TORBA MONASTERY IN GORNATE OLONA VARESE
Torba Monastery in Gornate Olona Varese is part of the serial site "Longobards in Italy: the places of power", comprising seven places of architectural, pictorial and sculptural testimonies of longobard art, enrolled in the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2011.
It is located in Gornate Olona, Torba, on the slopes of the hill on which the Castelseprio archaeological park is located.
The FAI restorations have also brought to light the great arches of the porch of the monastery's body, now the seat of refreshment, set on the Roman spine of Castelseprio masonry, still visible inside the refectory, where we can also admire the great original fireplace. The porticos also testify to the hospitality of the monastic order for pilgrims and travelers who could then rest in the deck and take advantage of the oven around which the stairway rises to the top of the tower is located (Wikipedia source)
