The American Academy in Rome is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Italy.
In 1894 the first nucleus was born in Rome just because it was the only city in the world that could offer an atmosphere and context rich in precious models of the past.

Famous architects, financial geniuses, archaeologists and men of culture gave birth to a real cultural center, which today thanks to the Rome Prize scholarships, each year holds up to thirty artists and scholars who live and work in a ' culturally stimulating and international atmosphere.

The Academy's central body was made by a study of American architects in the early 1900s, with a garden dominated by the fountain designed by the American artist Manship.

The villa also features an elegant library, exhibition halls, common areas for the scholarships, a courtyard full of archaeological finds and a vast green park, all inserted into the historic setting of the Gianicolo.
