THE SACRED NURAGIC IN SARDINIA
The sacred nuragic well is a particular hypogean templary structure present in Sardinia and destined during the Bronze Age to the Worship of the Waters.
Its architectural structure is considered to be among the most elaborate in the island and is a clear example of the constructive mastery achieved by the Nuragics.
It is located all over the island territory and along with the tombs of giants and temples at megaron testifies to the profoundly religious spirit of Sardinian populations during Nuragic Civilization.
In the world there are other examples of sacred wells, for example in Bulgaria (Sacred Well of Gārlo).
According to some scholars, sacred wells were built following a particular astronomical orientation. According to this hypothesis, the moon in its maximum declination (every 18 and a half years) would mirror exactly inside the well through the hole in the thoslo. Following this theory, through the steps of access to the source, the sun would also be reflected in certain sacred wells during spring and autumn equinoxes, while in others, during summer and winter solstices.
