ITALIAN SCULPTOR ANTONIO BASSI
Antonio Bassi (Trani, 1889 - Trani, 1964) was an Italian sculptor current -Trani province of Barletta (BT).
He was born in 1889 in Trani, son of the sculptor Nicola, he studied in Rome and Vienna, "A classical sculptor, achieved a good reputation in the region". Suffice it to recall the sculptures that left in Trani: the War Memorial in the town park; the Immaculate stadua in mad Freedom; the plaque to Antonio Piccinni, the medallions placed at the four corners of the two fountains that are located in Republic Square around the monument Bovio; the War Memorial of Ginosa. He participated in the First World War, an experience that will mark the artist, devoting much of its production to the theme of war victims. He died in Trani in 1964.
