GINOSA IN TARANTO APULIA
Ginosa is an Italian town of 22,632 inhabitants in the province of Taranto in Apulia. It stands on the top step of the southern foot of the Taranto Murgia to 240 m s.l.m. formerly part of the mountain community of Taranto Murgia.
Ginosa, with an area of 190.06 kmē which includes the coast of Marina di Ginosa is the last town in the province jonica the border with Basilicata. It is 52 km from the provincial capital, 20 from Matera, 6 Laterza (TA), 11 from Montescaglioso (MT), 21 from Castellaneta (TA) and 29 from Bernalda (MT).
Of ancient origins, finds of the Paleolithic, Stone Age, excavations of the Archaeological Superintendence of Puglia document the continuity of population of the ravine and there where there is the current town during the Middle Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
